Custom Walk Gates
Side-yard and garden gates on welded steel frames, so they still swing and latch years after the fence goes in.
Overview
The walk gate gets opened more than any other part of a fence and is usually the first thing to fail. A wood-only gate pulls its hinges loose and sags until the latch no longer lines up. We build cedar walk gates on welded steel frames, invisible from the good side, and hang them on steel posts.
Need a wider opening for a mower, trailer or pool equipment? We build double gates with a drop rod so you can open the full width when you need it.

Common questions
Can you add a gate to my existing fence?
Yes. We cut in a new opening, set steel posts and build a gate to match your existing boards and stain as closely as possible.
Will the steel frame be visible?
From the street side, no. The frame sits behind the boards. From inside the yard you'll see a slim black frame.
Can the gate lock?
Yes. We install lockable latches, keyed hardware, or a hasp for a padlock.
How wide should a side-yard gate be?
At least four feet for a mower and wheelbarrow. If you'll ever need a trailer or equipment through, a double gate is worth it.
